African Consulting Engineering Services Limited is incorporated in the United Kingdom and has been operational since 1981.

The overall policy of the company is to provide an engineering consultancy service suited to the needs of developing countries, encouraging the transfer of technology to the nationals of those countries and employing local engineers and technical staff whenever possible.

 

An intimate relationship exists between AFRICAN CONSULTING ENGINEERING SERVICES, Surtech Limited and Britech Limited of Kenya. 

 

The Group provides a co-ordinated multidisciplinary engineering service covering the fields of highways, structures, water supplies, sewerage, electrical, mechanical and agricultural engineering, geotechnical services and topographic surveys, together with a full range of support facilities.

 

Regular commitments comprise economic studies, feasibility studies, soils and materials testing, design and implementing, plant commissioning, tender evaluation, supervision of construction and contract administration.

 

The Consultancies are regularly retained by Ministries, Departments and Institutions of Government to provide consulting engineering services at all stages of project development. Work on a variety of major industrial projects has been commissioned by parastatal bodies and clients in the private sector. The firms are conversant with the requirements of international agencies such as the World Bank, Africa Development Bank and the U.K. Department for International Development and other bodies for provision of consulting engineering services.

 

The staff of AFRICAN ENGINEERING CONSULTING SERVICES comprises a team of more than thirty Professional Engineers and Technicians together with technical and administrative back up personnel.The majority of the professionals are British and Kenyan Nationals who have considerable experience of working in Africa and Eastern Europe.

MATERIALS TESTIG LABORATORY, SOUTHERN SUDAN.

Work Description:-

The Materials Testing Laboratory at the Ministry of Transport & Roads in Juba, Southern Sudan occupies 330 square metres of floor area.  It has four  separate speciality laboratories, three offices, storerooms and facilities for staff and visitors.  It is currently the only soils and materials testing facility in Southern Sudan.

The laboratory is managed by a Chief Materials Engineer from the Ministry of Transport & Roads(MTR). Eng. Jeremiah Turich and five technicians were trained in two separate courses at the Surtech Ltd. Geotechnical Laboratory in Nairobi, Kenya and in Juba, Southern Sudan to run each element of the laboratory. During the early stages of operation, Surtech will continue managerial and technical support to the laboratory staff to ensure the highest possible quality of testing results for the public sector and commercial clients.

The equipment in the materials testing laboratory was calibrated and certified by the Kenya Bureau of Standards.
